Overview:

A leading transport and logistics business with a network of UK sites is currently looking to appoint a Transport General Manager to oversee and manage transport operations across the business. The role will have a particular focus on developing the UK network and groupage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of transportation operations across their sites.
• Setting the strategy for Transport, driving cost, safety and compliance across the operation.
• Looking at fleet size strategy, maximising current assets and looking for opportunities to grow the fleet and transport commercial operations.
• Manage an existing fleet of 50-60 trucks, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
• Lead and motivate a team of transport professionals, providing guidance, strategic direction and support.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of logistics operations.
• Monitor and analyse transport metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement process improvements.
• Foster a culture of safety and compliance within the transport team, promoting best practices and ensuring adherence to all regulations.

Person Specification:

• Experienced in transport operational leadership in the road freight industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing transport teams and operations.
• Previous experience managing multiple sites and large fleets is preferred.
• Experience of LCL / Groupage.
• Proven pedigree in re-designing and growing transport networks.
• Used to conducting fleet evaluation processes and re-strategisation.
• Strong knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
• Highly organised with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Hold a valid O licence.
• CPC qualified.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
