This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly regarded firm of Costs Lawyers, celebrating more than 35 years in business. A full time Trainee Costs Draftsperson is required, specialising in family costs, servicing a wide-ranging client base dealing mostly with childcare cases. Full training will be given to enable the candidate to manage their own case load of costs files with minimal supervision. The candidate will not only gain full exposure to matrimonial costs but after a qualifying period will also gain the opportunity to work within the litigation costs department, dealing with preparation of Civil Bills of Costs, negotiated settlements and attendance at detailed assessment hearings. The role is based in our Chester office - normal hours 9am to 5pm, with the possibility of flexible working.


  • First point of contact with clients
  • Preparing CCMS Claims for bulk upload to the Legal Aid Agency for Assessment
  • Preparing Claim 1A Forms for old style Certificates and Bills for matters which escape fixed fees, or when FAS does not apply
  • Ensuring all cases are dealt with promptly in compliance with SLAs and agreed timescales
  • Providing a complete family costs service to clients
  • Exceeding targets

  • Law Graduate/LPC
  • Exceptional communication skills
