Technical Manager

An opportunity has arisen to work within a developing R&D Department of a well-established manufacturing company. Grangers International Ltd, based in Derbyshire and established in 1937, is the owner of market-leading aftercare brands; Grangers, Fabsil and Cherry Blossom.

THE ROLE

Reporting into the Technical Director, this role is ideal for someone who is experienced in a laboratory environment looking for a long-term technical role. With a passion for Research and Development and experience in quality control, regulatory and auditing processes this is a diverse role with an opportunity to make a difference in a fast-paced and growing business.

The chosen candidate will also lead the R&D team as well supporting the wider business and customers with technical and health and safety queries.

The individual will work closely with all teams across the business including Production, Purchasing, Product, Marketing and Sales.

  • Office-based with some opportunities to work from home when relevant
  • Occasional travel will be required to visit customers and distribution partners
  • Opportunity to develop skills base through funded courses and training software
  • Salary: Negotiable and dependent upon experience.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Formulation development and product testing assuring that all existing products are at the forefront of current technologies and bringing new innovative product ranges to the market.
  • Management of a small existing Technical Team, supporting and guiding, where necessary.
  • Regulatory compliance and document management.
  • Supporting customers with NPD projects.
  • Management and distribution of MSDS for the entire product range.
  • Quality Assurance.
  • Quality and environmental system management.
  • Work closely with internal teams on development projects.
  • Technical support and customer engagement.

IDEAL CANDITATE WILL:

  • Show a passion for innovation and new product development.
  • Demonstrate substantial regulatory and auditing experience.
  • Showcase excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ideally have experience in industrial cleaning/chemical manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Be a people person and confident communicating with consumers and customers.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to put a hand to any tasks to support the department/wider business.
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Have an ability to work cross-functionally across relevant teams.
  • Be a team player, proactive, positive, enthusiastic and demonstrate a 'can do’ attitude.
  • Have strong attention to detail.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least three years’ experience in a chemical-based role.
  • Ideally have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or related qualification in Chemistry or a relevant field.
  • Computer literacy - MS Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to interpret limited technical information and completely convey information to others.
  • A passion for NPD.
  • A willingness to learn and support the wider business with development and regulatory requirements.
