Our market-leading client in East Sussex is seeking a Technical Lead IT Engineer to join their team.

My client’s office is in St Leonards, and there will be travel, usually within 1-hour of Sussex. The successful candidate will provide technical mentoring for a team of 6 IT Engineers.

What will you be doing day-to-day?

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead IT Engineer to lead our technical team and ensure the successful delivery of our service offerings. You will be responsible for overseeing the technical operations of the branch, ensuring that our services meet or exceed customer expectation. You’ll be providing technical guidance and support to our clients and internal teams. You will work closely with delivery and support teams from other areas of the business to deliver services across multiple regions.

The role is critical in driving outstanding customer service. You will be organised and have a methodical, logical and structured approach. You will motivate, support and manage the team, ensuring that resources are effectively and efficiently used, and the team are motivated, focussed and achieving targets.

You will meet regularly with other members of the senior leadership team to discuss business strategy, technical challenges, and opportunities for growth.

Technical Lead IT Engineer - Overview of the role:

  • Lead the technical team in the design, development, and delivery of our services and products.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our clients, ensuring that their technical needs are met and exceeded, and identifying opportunities for new services and solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to our sales and marketing teams, assisting with proposals, presentations, and customer meetings.
  • Collaborate with other internal businesses and departments, including sales, marketing, and operations, to develop and execute strategic plans for the company.
  • Hire, train, and manage technical staff, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
  • Develop and support the policies and procedures of the wider business for operations, ensuring that they are consistent across the group.

Company and department responsibilities:

As Technical Lead, your responsibilities would include overseeing service delivery of infrastructure, networking and cloud services. You would be responsible for local product and technical talent management. You would need to have a strong technical background, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with other departments to deliver high-quality services to customers.

You will be based from our Sussex office and will report to the Managing Director, you will work closely with the local helpdesk manager to ensure a high level of support is maintained to our existing customer base. This is a role that is measured on results. You will be expected to deliver performance to agreed targets and provide reporting, analysis and recommendations on a regular basis.

You possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and strategic thinking abilities. You should also have a strong technical background, be adaptable, and have an analytical mindset to solve complex technical issues. A customer-focused approach is necessary to ensure that technical solutions are aligned with the needs of the business and its customers. You must also be able to manage multiple teams and provide direction to other departments. You should be a technology enthusiast while staying up-to-date with the latest trends. Overall, a combination of technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills is crucial for success in this role.

Technical Lead IT Engineer - Qualifications and experience

Experience in technical leadership/Mentoring roles, with a track record of delivering high-quality technical solutions:

  • Willing to travel to sites in the South, predominantly within Sussex
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices, such as ITIL, ISO
  • Microsoft technologies: 365, Azure, Windows, AD, Server OS
  • Cyber security: firewalls, web filters, advanced protection and recovery
  • Cloud technologies

Desirable qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified - 365, Azure, Windows, Server
  • CompTIA - A+, Security+, Network+
  • Cisco Certified - CCNA

You must hold a full UK driving license and have use of your own vehicle.
