Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Halifax. This role is ideal for individuals who have a strong mentality and a willingness to work with children with additional needs. No previous experience is necessary, as we value passion and commitment to supporting our students’ educational journey.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of daily lessons and activities tailored to the needs of students within the PRU setting.
  • Provide one-to-one support to students, encouraging their engagement in learning and helping them to overcome educational barriers.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching staff to monitor and track the progress of students.
  • Help to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your understanding of the specific needs of the students you’ll be working with.
  • Assist with the management of classroom behaviour, applying the strategies you’ll learn through training and mentorship.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive approach to learning and a willingness to engage in professional development.
