About the Role:

Hanson recruitment is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teacher to join one of our clients in Bristol. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a small class of five pupils, aged 11 to 13 years old, with special educational needs including autism and one with CVI (Cognitive Visual Impairment).

Key Responsibilities:

- Teach a small class of five pupils with special educational needs, ensuring tailored lessons that cater to each child's abilities.
- Collaborate with a team of six teaching assistants, including a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), to support the planning and administration of lessons.
- Provide one-to-one support for pupils and guide teaching assistants in differentiation and classroom support.
- Build strong relationships with pupils and understand their individual educational and emotional needs.
- Collaborate with the wider teaching and support team to deliver excellent education and support for the classroom.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Experience in special education teaching or out-of-school learning.
- QTS/QTLS or Equivalent Teaching Qualification
- Proficiency in behaviour management and trauma-informed teaching.
- Strong communication skills and ability to set appropriate boundaries in a therapeutic educational environment.

Desired Skills and Attributes:

- Ability to focus on social emotional learning and deliver core subjects tailored to each child's abilities.
- Experience in utilising existing planning resources while injecting creativity and personal teaching preferences.
- Ability to utilise off-site resources such as educational trips, climbing, swimming, and museums.
- Experience working alongside land and animal craft and specialist subject tutors.
