Supplier Purchasing Engineer

Duties for the role

Manages all suppliers for the company, maintains all regulations and requirements. creating and updating a supplier database with updated records of performance. reviewing guidelines for product assembly and ensuring all materials and resources are available.

Overseeing the ordering of this product. This process might involve sourcing materials and choosing between multiple vendor options, ensuring best quality and service is received and we are getting best value.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for selecting suppliers, monitoring supplier performance, developing a good supplier base, maintaining a good supplier relationship. Traffic light risk register
  • Be able to demonstrate the knowledge of the supply chain gained to support our in supplier selection.
  • New Product Introduction in the supply chain. You will work closely with a multi-functional team to try to avoid failures, issues and unnecessary costs.
  • Ensuring compliance of products and project related documentation within the UK Supply Quality Organization and ensures adherence to Company procedures/work instructions/specifications, key responsibilities will include.
  • · Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements
  • Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks.
  • Provide concise, complete and accurate documentation of inspection results relative to area of responsibility. In appropriate functional areas, this refers to supporting inspection and test status requirements defined by regulations, engineering product specifications or Control Plans, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approval or product warrant submission.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
  • Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues.
  • Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain.

Skills, Qualification and Experience

  • Excellent analytical skills and technical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Keen eye for supply quality control
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems and Measure Tools and techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Understand engineering drawings (electrical and mechanical) and manufacturing processes.
  • Be able to present data effectively.
  • CIPS qualification desirable
  • Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, or HNC, or equivalent NVQ level 4 qualification.
