If you have supervised teams and have a background in Pensions or Payroll administration, this could be the role for you. 

We are looking for a Payroll & Pensions Supervisor to join our client's team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a highly professional Payroll transactional service, ensuring compliance with statutory and legislative requirements. This role involves supervising the Payroll team, developing systems and processes, and enhancing service delivery.

Key Duties and responsibilities: 
  • Provide day-to-day support and technical guidance to the Payroll team, being the first point of contact for escalated queries.
  • Ensure the monthly payroll is produced accurately, including pensions data, and perform necessary checks from audit reports.
  • Deputise for the Deputy Payroll Manager when required, maintaining up-to-date legislative and procedural knowledge.
  • Resolve technical issues promptly to support the smooth operation of the Payroll function.
  • Record and submit pension data accurately and timely for various schemes.
  • Keep abreast of government and legislative changes to ensure compliance.
  • Review and maintain payroll and pension website content.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to understand and resolve issues, ensuring service levels are met.
  • Lead projects to improve the Payroll service and support significant HR/Payroll projects.
  • Coach and mentor junior colleagues, developing their capabilities and nurturing potential.
  • Maintain a robust training and induction programme.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Professional qualification (CIPP) or a minimum of 3 years recent experience in a payroll processing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of end to end Payroll functions and the employee lifecycle from New Starter to Leaver.
  • Pension administration and up to date legislation knowledge.
  • Experience using an integrated HR, Payroll & Finance system (such as SAP, iTrent, Northgate, Resourcelink, or Oracle).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software/systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel, with skills in VLOOKUPs & Pivot Tables.
  • Ability to supervise a busy customer service in a complex organisation.
  • Experience in training and inducting a team, adopting a coaching approach.
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritise, and manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • Calm and resilient under pressure.
