Sub-Contract Manager

Our client is a key supplier to the armed forces, who supply full turnkey services including system design, mechanical and software engineering, system integration, trials, production and delivery services and support and they are currently seeing to recruit a Sub-Contract Manager to develop and manage effective relationships across the company and its customers and to technically lead cross disciplinary project teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead subcontract reviews
  • Drive strategies to influence business decisions throughout the program life cycle
  • Employ Supplier Relationship Management and Performance Management techniques to improve supplier performance, mitigate risks, and capture innovation
  • Continuously monitor and act on risks and opportunities
  • Manage overall performance and compliance of key suppliers
  • Prepare complex contract documentation and manage timely resolution of subcontract complications
  • Resolve commercial issues with effective communication and buy-in from relevant stakeholders
  • Report monthly measurements of supplier metrics and enforce contractual agreements
  • Support negotiation of subcontracts to achieve timely performance while minimizing program risk and exploiting opportunities

The person

  • Ability to work within defined compliance and processing structures
  • Strong business and commercial awareness
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills with experience building and managing strong relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Demonstrable experience in a complex, multinational organization, preferably in aerospace & defence or comparable industries
  • Proven success in mid-level supply chain or similar roles
  • Preferable understanding and practical experience of negotiating UK MoD Defcons
  • Strong technical awareness of end-to-end supply chain activities, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and assess opportunities
