Brief Description of the Role:
An opportunity has arisen within the Orthopaedic unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary for Nursing staff at Band 5, and we are now looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team.

Ward 27: Trauma admissions unit, is a busy, 28 bedded unit offering care to patients who have suffered trauma and who may require surgical intervention. Ward 28: is a dynamic 28 bedded Elective Orthopaedic Unit with a four bedded admission area. Enhanced recovery is the key element of our care and we have recently adopted “GIRFT”, (Getting It Right First Time). Previous winner: “Team of the Year”. This requires that our staff have excellent assessment skills and the ability to prioritize a busy workload. The wards are modern and up to date, offering an excellent environment for our staff to practice and develop their skills, in order to further benefit our patients.
As part of our Nursing team, the successful candidates will work alongside our multi-disciplinary staff, delivering interventions to patients with a wide range of trauma related injuries and needs & elective orthopaedic surgery. The ability to effectively work as part of a team is essential. Applicants should also have understanding of rehabilitation and discharge planning.
The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate an understanding of the specific needs of patients who have experienced traumatic injury, and the emotional impact that injuries of this nature may have. The role will include unsocial hours and night work.
Applicants should have, or be waiting to receive UK Nursing registration (NMC). Previous experience of surgical nursing is desirable, due to the demands of the area. Good time management and the ability to work under pressure are essential. A structured preceptorship period of training and development will be provided with the support of the training department.
