My client provides the infrastructure that pushes the energy created by power stations. They are looking for a Multi-Platform Site Reliability Manager.

Job role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative, adaptable, and results oriented Multi-Platform Site Reliability Manager to join our IT team.

As a SRE Manager, you will be an integral part of the Engineering team tasked with operating and evangelising SRE incl. cultural aspects, engineering value stream, and effective tooling with an automation first approach, ensuring our Engineering platforms and services are available, performant, and cost effective.

You will be working with a diverse ecosystem of applications and platforms, and engaging with stakeholders from functions within IT, incl. internal colleagues, delivery partners and suppliers, and across all business functions. You will own the Platform Maintenance and configuration of our Salesforce, ServiceNow, Acquia Drupal CMS, Azure DevOps platforms and a number of Mobile Apps.

About You:

You must be passionate about SRE and have experience in promoting the SRE culture in organisations and have deep technical know-how and hands-on experience implementing various practices and tools in the DevOps toolchain . Able to manage a mix of onshore, offshore, direct hire, contractors, partner and managed service provided resources.

Experience Required:

  • Agile delivery methodologies incl. Scrum, Kanban and SAFe and be an expert in the Software Development Lifecycle and Site Reliability Engineering concepts.
  • SRE leadership experience and extensive knowledge of approaches and tooling for automated software assurance and QA on public and private cloud.
  • Refining and managing the roadmap for operating of SRE in an established organisation.
  • A mindset geared towards a fantastic end-to-end engineering experience supported by excellent tooling and automation.
  • Service support - the use of SRE, Continuous Delivery and ITIL concepts to lead an effective support operation.
  • Ideally you will have experience or detailed knowledge of Cloud Native Architectures and Everything as Code approach to product and platform engineering.
  • Manage internal resources in line with HR policies and external resource in line with contractual agreements.
  • 10 years of experience in managing application development, software delivery, and/or infrastructure development and administration.
  • Minimum of 5 years' design and implementation of Continuous Delivery and/or SRE solutions or architecture patterns.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with code repository management, code merge and quality checks, continuous integration, and automated deployment & management using tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, SVN, Git, Ansible, Artifactory, ServiceNow, Sonar, Selenium.

Technical Skills

General knowledge of most technical expertise areas is required:

  • Advanced knowledge of cloud services, preferably Azure and GCP
  • Basic understanding of core infrastructure building blocks - Networking, DNS, Compute, Storage, SSL.
  • Contributes improvements to the automation codebase to resolve issues.
  • Identifies changes for the product architecture from the reliability, performance and availability perspectives with a data driven approach.
  • Proactively work on the efficiency and capacity planning to set clear requirements and reduce the system resources usage to make us cheaper to run across the entire portfolio.
  • Identify parts that do not scale, provides immediate palliative measures and drives long term resolution of these incidents.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Leads initiatives and problem definition and scoping, design, and planning through epics and blueprints.
  • Deep domain knowledge and radiation that knowledge through recorded demos, technical presentations, discussions and incident reviews.
  • Perform and run blameless RCAs on incidents and outages aggressively looking for answers that will prevent the incident from ever happening again.
  • Act as a champion for reliability.
  • Set an example for team of SREs with positive and inclusive leadership and discussion on work.
  • Trusted to de-escalate conflicts inside the team.
