Sports/Swimming Coach with Special Educational Needs Experience ASAP -TEMP to PERM

JBD Recruitment are looking for an experienced and dynamic Swimming Coach in an established and forward-thinking special educational needs school based in Birmingham to join their dedicated team. The most suitable candidate will be required to start ASAP on a temporary to permanent contract on a part time basis. The school has been rated "Outstanding" in their last OFSTED report.

Your role will include:

  • Planning structured swimming sessions appropriate to the pupils.

  • Ensuring each session offers progressive development related to the National Curriculum requirements.

  • Ensuring all activities take place in a safe environment with due regard to Health and Safety recommendations.

  • Demonstrating knowledge and reporting of any accident, incident or emergency procedure.

  • Ensuring equity in sport and promote fair play.

  • Promoting the work of the sports development scheme by adopting a friendly, professional approach whilst always maintaining high standards.

Skills and experience required for Sports/Swimming Coach:

  • Current Swimming Instructor qualification/ Lifesaving qualification/ Relevant Level 2 qualification.

  • Proven 6-month minimum experience of working with children with special educational needs.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to relate well and inspire children of all ages and needs.

  • The capacity to identify and target specific, individual needs.

  • Proven experience of using specialist knowledge of swimming to deliver activities.
