You will join one of the largest specialist mental health sites in the UK and join a team of over 30 other Consultant Psychiatrists and 8 Clinical Directors / Medical Directors based at our Northampton site so lots of support for someone early in their psychiatry career but great opportunities to progress into more senior level roles in the future too.

The Northampton site also has other services such as Low Secure, PICU, Learning Disability, Autism, Neuropsychiatry, Forensics, and CAMHS as well as our academic and research centre so great opportunities to broaden and develop your skills in the future too.  It also has facilities such as a café, garden centre, charity shop, woodwork & ceramics workshop all staffed by patients and service users along with other facilities such as gym’s and swimming pools for patients and staff to use and all based in over 150 acres of beautiful woodland grounds (please see link below for more details).

The Service

Our Medium Secure Service provides care and treatment for working age males with mental illnesses. You will work closely with the other male wards and clinical teams to ensure the pathways between the wards/services are maximised and meet patients’ needs as they progress through treatment and recovery.  

The service has a track record for innovation and using outcome measures to provide the highest quality of care. 

About You

The successful candidate will join an established MDT and help support the continuous improvement of services and patient care. You will also be able to undertake research projects as part of St Andrew's commitment to innovation and world-class care. 

MRCPsych or equivalent is preferable and membership of the GMC will be required.  Further career progression in terms of Section 12(2) approval, Approved Clinician status, will be encouraged and supported.

We also support a number of our Psychiatrists through various leadership and clinical training programmes.  There are also opportunities to attend our regular internal CPD events and for you to develop a medico-legal out-patient practice as part of the St Andrews Consultancy Service.
