Provide meaningful support to students with additional needs. As a study skills tutor you will be supporting students studying FE/HE within your local area who have learning difficulties.
Responsibilities: Provide tailored one-to-one support with students you have been assigned to based on their specific learning difficulties
Assist students with organisational skills such as, time management, creating action plans to work towards deadlines
Help with their research skills by assisting them to access ranges of resources
Provide help with writing skills, how to structure their work
Encourage students to build on existing strengths so they are able to develop on their independence
Behave in a confidential and professional manner at all time with students
Work closely with Randstad and ensure any concerns regarding students are communicated immediately
As this is a specialist role, it is essential that you have a professional membership with one of the following:
The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) - Full or associate membership
British Dyslexia Association (BDA) - Full professional membership
The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE) - Professional membership
Dyslexia Guild Associate Member (ADG) o Associate Member (ADG FE/HE) o Member (MDG)To support students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) you must hold a degree and a teaching qualification with comprehensive training in adult autism.
