Title – Specialist Note Taker (Deaf/Hard of Hearing)

Our REED Further Education branch are currently working with a great college on an exciting new role in the Rochdale area.

The college are looking for Specialist note takers to support deaf/hard of hearing students studying in and FE environment. There is a variety of hours available, be this Full-Time or Part-Time.

The college:
-Ofsted rating of 'Good'
-Over 35 Curriculum offers with a vast amount of full- and part-time courses
-Has two main centres around the Manchester area
-Brand new state-of-the-art Learning Resource Centre
-They have a practical training approach and dedicated support teams

The Role:

You will be able to translate sign language into voice and vice versa although not at the level of competence required by a trained British Sign Language (BSL) / English Interpreter. You will work flexibly with an individual deaf student in lectures, workshops and seminars as well as providing general one to one support.

What you will need:
-A background in specialist note taking
-SEN Student Experience
-To be Passionate, Committed and Enthusiastic
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
-A patient classroom approach
-A DBS on the update service or willingness to gain one
