We are recruiting for Tutors for a special needs college in Openshaw, Manchester. This college caters for students aged 16-25, all of which have learning disabilities, complex needs and autism.
The College has a large multi-disciplinary team which comprises of teachers, support staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists. It is essential that Tutors work collaboratively with this multi-disciplinary team to ensure the needs of students are addressed and learning is accessible and inclusive.
*Degree/Level 3 in a related specialism
*PGCE/PGDE in post compulsory education or other relevant teaching qualification related to the role or willing to work towards
The ideal candidate must:
*Experience teaching students with disabilities and/or autism
*Awareness about how managing disabilities and medical conditions associated with students with learning disabilities/autism
*MIDAS trained or willingness to undertake within first year of employment
*Training in Makaton or other forms of sign language
*Design and management of person centred individual learning plans (ILPs) and to set comprehensive targets
*To manage support staff within the classroom and provide relevant support and guidance to develop best practice
*To work collaboratively with a range of partners to facilitate student progression
*To build external links with agencies to improve the learner experience in term time and non term time.
A registration process will need to be followed before starting the role, therefore you must be able to provide two references demonstrating the above skills.
