Sonographer Trainee

An exciting opportunity to work as a part of an established multidisciplinary team (MDT) in the Obstetric Scanning Unit at St Georges Hospital has arisen.

St Georges is an acute general hospital in south west London, with a large Maternity unit serving a diverse demographic. The approximate number of deliveries per annum is 6000.

We are a friendly dynamic team and are currently looking for an enthusiastic student sonographer in obstetric ultrasound to join us for a year. After qualification (PG cert Ultrasound), it is expected the candidate works within our unit for a minimum of 3 years.

The department consists of 8 scan rooms using predominantly GE equipment. Tertiary fetal medicine, fetal cardiology, day assessment and routine screening are all currently undertaken in the same unit as a whole making this a very dynamic cohesive unit.

Our team of sonographers are dedicated and committed to the highest quality of care and imaging. Professional development sessions are supported and there are opportunities to further your career with presenting, teaching, research and auditing.

There are regular MDT meetings which the sonographers are encouraged to attend, where recent FMU cases are discussed.
As a student sonographer you will be expected to learn all aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology scanning.

In order to reach the minimum criteria for the position you must have the following: Degree in Radiology, Midwifery/Nursing or any related health care profession, approximately 2 years of experience in within the NHS, UK regulatory body registration such as HCPC, NMC, etc. Good communication skills and a flexible approach.
