As an Engineering Manager, everyday should be rewarding and mentally challenging. We believe there is nothing more rewarding than leading the highly skilled and successful MHR Agile Product Teams developing the next generation of new and exciting products shaping the world of work.

Reporting to the Head of Software, you will manage multiple, cross-functional engineering teams. You will contribute towards the success of our People First product by leading and developing high performing teams, ensuring that teams apply best practices, and constantly strive to improve how they work.

This is a hands-off role, but you will use your experience as a technical contributor to help your team make decisions and attain the best outcomes for our users. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the careers of the Engineers in your teams, reviewing their performance, providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching them, and helping them to be successful. This role would also suit an experienced engineering lead looking for the next step up in leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of software engineers and testers, providing guidance, mentoring and coaching
  • Ensure best practices in Software Development are maintained
  • Ensure quality, scalability, and maintainability of code and software architecture.
  • Monitor team performance and set performance goals, conducting regular performance evaluations, and providing feedback.
  • Working with Scrum Masters, Identify and address any issues or challenges faced by the team and implement solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Drive a generative culture of high cooperation where learning is the heart of everything we do
  • Work closely with the Product Design Team to manage the resources required, to achieve the product roadmaps considering recruitment, training and the acquisition of tools and frameworks in a timely fashion to avoid delays in delivery
  • To be an advocate of the Agile development practices employed by the development function.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies and seek opportunities to apply them to the team's work.
  • Promote and develop a culture of Continual improvement where Engineering teams are continually striving to be the best.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, stake holders, and clients, providing regular updates on product progress and issues to manage expectations.

Skills:

  • Able to demonstrate leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of software professionals.
  • Strong technical skills and a solid understanding of software development concepts and technologies.
  • Good understanding of what software architecture looks like
  • Proficient in Agile development methodologies
  • Understanding of Continuous Delivery best practices
  • Awareness of security requirements for handling sensitive information
  • A team oriented individual with a passion for engineered excellence
  • A passion for innovation, people management and improvement
  • You appreciate the importance of keeping a positive team and culture
  • Confident with introducing new ideas and motivating a diverse team
