Service Operations Manager required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 6-month contract, paying £600 per day, inside IR35, remote working (London office)

This role sits within the service ownership team within Digital and Technology. This team has responsibility for day to day management of the core technical services, ongoing enhancements of those services and continual service improvements. Most of the services are currently provided by third party managed service providers which require ongoing supplier liaison and management. There is also considerable liaison and collaboration with other Digital and Technology teams, particularly the service and technical operations teams.

This role is responsible for operational delivery of the technical services that enable end users to work effectively. It requires hands on day to day management of suppliers and other service providers and collaboration with a range of teams and technical experts.

The roles will work in one or more of the following service areas:
*End User Computing
*Collaboration and Productivity Tools - particularly Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online.
*Voice and Video
*Applications Management
*Data Centres
You will either specialise in one of these areas or have a broad technical background with a working knowledge of one or more of these service lines.

Experience Required:
*Technical operations or service ownership gained whilst working for a large multifaceted organisation with a dispersed workforce.
*Understand the complexities of modern end user and infrastructure services but be able to adapt their communication style to non-technical audiences in order to understand the user experience.
*Worked as part of a large multifunctional technical team and be able to bring in the technical skills and capabilities needed to manage their service effectively.
*Skilled in managing change and delivering through third parties, with demonstrable supplier management ability.
*Demonstrate good financial and commercial acumen.
*Monitor the performance of services against set service level criteria and take the appropriate action to resolve issues or deliver improvements.
*Good communication and stakeholder management skills and experience of working with users to improve and enhance services.
*Experience of working in a public sector environment is desirable, but not essential, however, the candidate must have knowledge and understanding of delivering services at scale.
