Senior Technical Support Engineer


My client provides IT support and Services to clients across Scotland and throughout the UK. They partner with clients to ensure they get the very best from their IT systems, and their goal is to help make their business even better through the use of technology.

Not only are you an experienced IT Systems Administrator / Senior Technical Support Engineer, you are enthusiastic, personable and ambitious. You will specialize in a wide variety of Microsoft Server / Desktop / Cloud products, Virtualization platforms (VMware and Hyper-V) and Cloud Infrastructure (Azure, O365, AWS). Whilst you may or may not have extensive past experience, you certainly have proven current experience (last 3 years) with the latest technology, and have held posts in Senior positions for the last 3 years or more. You can work on your own, but love/thrive to work as part of a team, and are an exceptional communicator at all levels.

You will also posses a Full, Clean UK Driving License and can provide at least 2 references. All candidates must pass a Basic Disclosure Scotland check.

Responsibilities and Duties

As the Lead Systems Administrator, your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Resolving 2nd Line Support requests directly from managed service clients, using existing skills and knowledge as well as where appropriate, using relevant support and vendor resources to find resolution. This will be predominantly server focused
  • Proactive monitoring of managed backup, security, patching and automated alerts systems - responding to and resolving any and all issues
  • Work on Project Design and Implementation together with the Technical Director, both Onsite and remotely as and when required. At times this will require working during unsociable hours such as evenings and weekends, and may require working away from home for several days.
  • Performing advanced troubleshooting/analysis, which may also include working together with Microsoft and other vendors to resolve challenging, complex faults
  • As a technical lead, you will provide support, assistance and on the job training to other helpdesk technicians to ensure the smooth running of helpdesk operations and continual improvement of all team members of a daily basis. Additionally, you will be responsible for reporting and escalating faults to the Technical Director as per pre-defined parameters
  • Actively review and propose improvements to existing processes, procedures, systems and services to ensure service delivery remains efficient, effective and industry leading at all times

Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (2003/2008/2012/2016) - any or all of these

Networking Certification (CompTIA/CCNA/Degree) - not limited to these
