Senior TAX Manager

The Tax Manager with co-ordinate all tax reporting, calculations and advice for (Branch and Subsidiary) and ensure that the Bank is in compliance with all UK tax legislation (including the Senior Accounting Officer Regime). The candidate will be our first point of contact with HMRC and external tax advisors.

Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  1. Acting as a key subject matter expert for the business for relevant taxation and related queries. This includes the full suite of Banking tax matters (VAT, Corporation Tax, Bank Levy, Surcharge & Employee Tax).

  2. Ensure that the Bank's tax strategy and tax policy is updated and implemented.

  3. Collating, reviewing and lodging submissions on behalf of the business within required time frames and accurate manner (such as HMRC, IRS, CRS, FATCA, AEOI etc.) and engage/liaise with external tax advisors on the Bank's behalf when required.

  4. Acting as a subject matter expert (SME) for the business as required on broader organisational projects.

  5. Keeping up to date with relevant regulatory and legislative changes (seminars, training, peer networking etc.), ensuring the business is aware and prepared for impending changes.

  6. Acting as a lead on relevant change projects in association with central project staff.

  7. Maintaining, updating and where required creating processes and procedures, ensuring all are documented.

  8. Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including partner organisations and other related parties.

  9. Ensuring all record keeping is completed within required deadlines.

  10. Assisting others within the Regulatory Reporting team to ensure broader team objectives are achieved.

  11. Recruit and maintain human resources in accordance with agreed plans, train, develop and lead resources to ensure that targets are met. Manage performance of staff and ensure appropriate training needs are identified.

Skills Required:

As the successful candidate you will possess: -

  • Sound knowledge of Tax reporting and relevant regulatory knowledge;

  • A high level of attention to detail;

  • Strong analytical and data manipulation skills;

  • A desire to drive continual improvement, with previous experience with process reviews and improvement;

  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to effectively present outcomes and information to senior leadership Inc. board level;

  • Well-developed problem solving skills, with the ability to seek and find solutions;

  • The ability to co-ordinate project work and deliver change effectively;

  • Robust time management skills with the ability to prioritise and self-manage your workload;

  • Previous experience in Banking or related Financial Services.
