Senior Residential Support Worker

Clacton, Essex

£19,600 - £22,600 + Sleep-in allowance (£3,000 approx pa)

Excellent opportunity for a Senior Residential Support Worker to join a private provider in Clacton. The organisation specialises in supporting young people aged 11-18 that display chellenging behaviour, attachment disorders and complex needs.

The main duties of this role include:

  • Ensuring shifts are planned with Residential Support Workers, to take the lead on shift and be responsible for the events on the shift
  • To ensure that all risks are safely managed in line with the company policies and procedures
  • To communicate effectively with the team of staff coming onto shift ensuring that a thorough account of your shifts events has taken place
  • To be the case holder for designated children, whilst supporting that allocated Key Worker
  • To provide written reports and documentation that truly reflects the progress of the adolescent for planning meetings / reviews
  • To set up, co-ordinate and review the children's files,
  • Care plans,
  • Risk Assessments,
  • Behaviour Management Plans.
  • Health Care Documentation
  • Missing from Home Documentation / Physical Description document
  • Agreements and Incentives.
  • To contribute to Educational Meetings
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of all the children, staff and visitors on your shift, and to ensure that any hazards are reported immediately in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • To undertake any training that is deemed appropriate to your position.
  • To attend staff meetings and be a positive role model to the children at their meetings
  • To contribute to individual and group direct work sessions to achieve optimal outcomes
  • To be able to address standards of behaviours from adolescents, in a calm non confrontational and constructive manner.
  • To work a flexible rota on a pro rota basis, inclusive of weekends and Bank Holidays, to assist with shift planning, covering shifts at short notice for sickness

  • To be a good role model to the children
  • To be able to listen and offer sound advice and support to the adolescent regarding making positive choices
  • To have exceptional communication skills, to be able to hand over and record relevant information in a factual manner
  • To have the ability to engage and motivate the children
  • To be non judgemental
  • To be able to support the needs of the service and its children
  • Be willing to work flexibly across all shift patterns
  • To commitment to anti discriminatory practices

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ3/QCF3 Working With Children and Young People's Workforce
  • To be willing to participate in training to support the needs of the service
  • Good IT skills
  • Driving Licence - must be held for a minimum of 3 years
