Acorn Recruitment is looking to recruit a Senior Process Technologist to join the Tubes Technical team based at one of the sites named above.
Our client is one of the major steel tubes producers in Europe with assets on 5 locations in the Netherlands and the UK. All tubes are produced via High Frequency Induction (HFI) welding, whereas the sizes range from 10mm in diameter up to 508mm. The objective of my client is to produce high value tubes which require an increasing demand in mechanical properties such as strength and fatigue. These increasing demands require improved control of the tube welding process.
Within the Tubes Technical organisation, this position has been created to improve the performance of our HFI welding process as well as to build on our knowledge on this key area.
As the Senior Process Technologist, you will be the key knowledge owner and central point of contact for HFI welding within the company, operating closely with manufacturing and technical to advise on essential process adjustments to enable the welding of new steel grades as well as to improve the production capabilities of the existing order book.
In this capacity, your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
*Process improvements on the subject of High Frequency Induction (HFI) welding of tubes of our current portfolio to improve yield and speed of work at our lines.
*Identify process improvements required to deliver the New Product Development portfolio of Tubes.
*Manage the process technology programme with R&D project leaders, including related university partnerships.
*Identify opportunities for step changes in process capability.
*Identify plant technology implications of future product requirements and future steel grade developments
*Liaise with local Operations, Technology and Quality teams to execute process development trials
*Coordinate technical process CAPEX on the subject of HFI welding of tubes
As the Senior Process Technologist, you will ideally hold a degree or masters qualification in an Engineering or Scientific discipline with experience in a similar role.
To be successful in this challenging role, you will also require the following:
*Knowledge of metallurgy and steel products TSE and processing
*Knowledge of European/International standards and quality improvement techniques
*The ability to work independently but also within a technical team is essential.
*Knowledge of project management, product development projects, technology development
Knowledge of and affinity for HFI welding of tubes
