Job Description

Do you want to develop new pricing concepts, by utilising and analysing market data/insights to identify strategies that improve both market share and new business profitability for L&G?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity available within our Retail Protection Pricing team here at L&G that would be ideal for either a student actuary or a data scientist with a keen interest in commercial pricing.

As well as developing new pricing strategies and concepts, you will also look at ways that we can optimise our current pricing processes by utilising data analytics and making suitable recommendations for improvements.

You will also get the opportunity to be involved with commercial deals, product development and complex analysis work within this varied and exciting role.

This is a hybrid working opportunity, which means you can split your working week flexibly between your home and our newly refurbished offices in Hove, to help achieve a work-life balance which suits you.

Qualifications
  • A student actuary or data scientist (if an actuarial student we would be open to both those who are still studying towards IFoA exams and exam stoppers/leavers)
  • Previous actuarial or data science experience - preferably within a pricing capacity.
  • Strong IT and programming skills, with experience of Python, R, SQL and Excel being highly preferable.
  • Knowledge/experience of Prophet would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and recommend ideas.
  • Ability to work independently, under time pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to conduct complex analyses (e.g. root cause, productiveness and performance testing) and report outcomes of these analyses to enable the continuous improvement of data and models.
