Senior Plastic Orthotic Technician

An opportunity has now arisen for a Senior Plastic Orthotic Technician to join our orthotic manufacturing team.

This is an exciting role for an experienced plastic technician who is looking to further their career in a more senior role.

Within our plastic department you will be joining an enthusiastic and busy team. You will be have support in training where required to aid your personal development. You will understand the full process of manufacture of thermoplastic orthoses that are custom made for a wide variety of patients:

Some of the duties will involve:

  • Manufacture of thermoplastic orthoses including AFO, KAFOs, Spinal Jackets and FFOs.

  • Following clinical specifications within manufacturing

  • Manufacture according to company quality standards

  • Developing the team through training and support

  • Review processes and implement improvements to drive efficiency and quality

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and hand skills needed to fabricate and repair orthoses according to patient measurements, casts and in compliance with Orthotists prescription

  • Keep up to date with new techniques and products

  • Mechanical ability and hand-eye coordination to use tools safely and effectively.

  • Effective organisational, time management and planning skills.

  • Good interpersonal and verbal skills for communicating with others.

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.

  • High standard of workmanship to maintain and enhance quality

    The team you will work with will be:

  • Plastics team

  • CAD team

  • Customer services

  • Customers when required in centres delivering care to patients

  • Other teams within manufacture such as footwear and insoles departments

This is an exciting role in fast progressing orthotic factory using the latest technology and techniques in custom orthoses providing services to our biggest customer, the NHS. This is a permanent position and as standard the core working hours are 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.
