Senior Java Developer

£890 per day Umbrella Inside IR35
London / Hybrid (3 days on-site)

My client is a leading global financial services organisation seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join a large-scale enterprise technology programme. This is a senior technical role focused on leading backend application development initiatives and driving architectural decisions for robust, scalable and high-performance server-side systems. You will provide hands-on leadership in building enterprise-grade Java solutions, guiding development teams and influencing technical strategy and engineering best practices.

Key Requirements

• 7+ years of Java backend development experience.
• Advanced expertise in Java, Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with Oracle, SQL/NoSQL databases and data modelling.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ or other event-driven messaging technologies.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git and DevOps practices.
• Experience with JUnit, automated testing and code review processes.
• Experience with Spring Batch and Spring Integration.
• Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP cloud platforms.
• Experience with Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor developers and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Strong understanding of backend security, performance tuning and monitoring.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

The successful candidate will be comfortable leading the design and delivery of enterprise-scale backend systems, resolving complex technical challenges, and driving engineering excellence across modern Java microservices environments.
