We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and skilled Senior Grounds Person to join our local government team. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for maintaining playing surfaces and grounds facilities to the highest standards and making a positive impact in the community. You will be working under the supervision of the Operations Manager – Property and Environment, you will also supervise other team members to ensure all areas are well-cared for and maintained.

Day to Day of the role:

• Supervise the maintenance of all playing surfaces and grounds facilities to meet the required standards for users.
• Lead and oversee the work of other team members, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Conduct regular inspections of grounds and facilities to identify areas for maintenance or improvement.
• Coordinate with the Operations Manager to plan and implement maintenance schedules and projects.
• Ensure all equipment and machinery are maintained and operated safely and effectively.
• Provide training and support to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in grounds maintenance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum Level 2+ qualification in a relevant field of study (e.g., NVQ, SVQ, Work Placed Diploma, full-time Level 2 qualification, Level 2 GMA Technical Certificate in Turf Surface Maintenance or Grounds Maintenance).
• Proven experience in grounds maintenance or a similar role.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to grounds maintenance.
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment and machinery safely.
