Are you a talented Audit Manager looking for some extra challenge, a market leading salary and the opportunity to work for a respected employer in Cheltenham?

Would you be confident overseeing the provision of audit for a wide range of clients with turnovers varying from £1million to £100million? Are you confident working on audits outside the audit threshold that come with unusual challenges around forecasting and cashflow?

We are delighted to be representing a thriving, modern accountant firm in their search for a Senior Audit Manager in the stunning spa town of Cheltenham to join their close-knit team and oversee the work of the audit team for a diverse portfolio of clients in a range of sectors.

This opportunity will suit someone who is ACA, ACCA or CA qualified, with demonstrable management level audit experience within an accountancy practice. You will be able to effectively communicate technical matters in an easy-to-understand way for clients and an elevated level of attention to detail will also be essential for this role.

With several roles reporting into the Senior Audit Manager, you’ll be a natural leader that can nurture a positive working environment, whilst ensuring the highest quality service is delivered. This role will also be a position of support to the Audit Partners, so you’ll be able to accept autonomous responsibility to oversee complex projects to completion.

This firm is growing at pace so you’ll need to be comfortable offering creative and innovative ideas as to how the practice can keep up with the needs of their clients as they grow into the next big businesses in the UK and beyond.

Job Purpose

  • Manage high turnover audits from planning to completion including field work.
  • The oversight of audits outside of the audit threshold including those with more complex issues and requiring higher levels of ad-hoc work, i.e. cash flow forecasting, management accounts production.
  • Assume direct responsibility for all aspects of the services provided, incorporating remuneration planning, corporate group structures
  • Due diligence.
  • MBOs.
  • Raising finance.
  • Oversee WIP and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Preparation and review of financial statements.
  • Tax computations.
  • Assist the Corporate Finance team with specialist assignments such as acquisition advice, business disposals, raising finance, business plans,
  • Mentor new trainees and support with their learning and development.
  • Monitor and nurture client relationships.
  • Technical problem solving.
  • Able to work alongside and part of the senior management team and support with company growth.
  • Assist with target setting and department budgeting.
  • Ability to identify services that will add value to your portfolio of clients.
  • Confident in networking to promote the department and pitching for new business.
  • Overseeing the audit team and championing the firm’s values within the team.
  • Provide professional and personable client-facing communication skills.
  • Set an example for the team as a natural leader.

The Successful Applicant

  • ACA or ACCA qualified or QBE with demonstrable accountancy practice experience at management level.
  • Enhanced attention to detail and risk analysis skills.
  • Experience of overseeing the provision of highly technical audit and associated services.
  • Able to develop enhanced client relationships and integrate themselves into each client’s way of working.
  • Excellent work ethic.
  • Self-motivated and reliable who is eager to progress
  • Confident in leading, nurturing and inspiring a team.
  • Effective communication skills are essential, both verbal and written.
  • Commercial awareness and initiative.
