LTF Recruitment is closely collaborating with a primary school in Derby to fill positions for both a full-time and a morning part-time SEND Assistant. The chosen candidates will work closely with the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to provide outstanding care to children with diverse needs, including ASD, ADHD, and ADD. Applicants must be qualified and possess relevant experience to effectively meet the demands of this role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support to students individually and in small group settings.
  • Ensuring appropriate care and learning opportunities for assigned children.
  • Supervising children and ensuring their safety.
  • Communicating regularly with parents/carers and maintaining daily activity records.
  • Updating Class Teacher/SENDCo on academic, social, and physical progress.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Desirable experience working with children in a school environment.
  • A thorough understanding of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, challenging behavior, and developmental delays.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Quick thinking and decisive action, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong behavior management skills coupled with creating an engaging learning environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
