Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Accelerate Teaching is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Secondary School in Wakefield. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, helping them to unlock their full potential and succeed in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support for students with special educational needs, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement tailored learning plans and strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to thrive.
  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the ongoing assessment and evaluation process.
  • Assist with the implementation of behavioural management techniques and interventions, promoting positive behaviour and social skills development.
  • Support students during classroom activities, workshops, and extracurricular events, ensuring their safety, well-being, and engagement at all times.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies as required, building positive relationships and facilitating effective communication to support student progress and welfare.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs is essential.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a proactive attitude towards supporting the diverse needs of students in a dynamic educational setting.
