Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for experienced TAs to join this SEN school in Islington, North London. This a long-term role working 3-4 days per week for the rest of the academic year.

The School:

A special school for children with severe learning difficulties and/or autism based in Islington. Children at the school have difficulties with communication and sensory processing and therefore work closely with speech and language therapists and occupational therapists to both minimise barriers to learning and extend their skills.

Staff enable children to reach their full potential by exploring what might be possible; meeting them at their stage of learning and designing their curriculum around the individual child. They create a fun and engaging learning environment where the children feel safe, happy and ready to learn.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will be responsible for the below:

  • Supporting SEN students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
  • Encouraging and promoting student engagement in learning activities
  • Contributing to support plans and strategies to meet the needs of each student
  • Collaborating with staff, parents/carers, and outside agencies
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and achievements

To join us and be successful in this role you will ideally need :

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN
  • An Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
  • Legal right to work in the UK
