Tradewind Recruitment is seeking compassionate individuals like you to join our team as Full-Time SEMH Teaching Assistants in schools across Cardiff. This is your opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of students facing SEMH challenges while gaining invaluable experience in special education.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, fostering a safe and supportive environment conducive to their social, emotional, and academic growth.
  2. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop and implement personalised support plans tailored to students' individual needs and challenges.
  3. Support students in developing self-regulation strategies, coping skills, and positive behaviour management techniques to enhance their emotional well-being and success in the classroom.
  4. Use therapeutic approaches and evidence-based interventions to address underlying social and emotional difficulties and promote resilience and self-confidence.
  5. Monitor students' emotional and behavioural responses to academic and social situations, providing timely feedback and support to help them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
  6. Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to facilitate open communication and meaningful engagement in learning activities.
  7. Collaborate with parents and caregivers to share insights, provide updates on students' progress, and develop strategies for supporting their needs both at home and at school.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational or support capacity.
  2. Strong empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to promoting the social, emotional, and mental well-being of students.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  4. Flexibility and adaptability to respond effectively to the diverse needs and challenges of students with SEMH.
  5. A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
  6. Training or qualifications in SEMH support, counselling, psychology, or related fields are desirable but not essential.
