Purpose of the Role

The role of the Security Controller is a dual role spending most of the time in the Security Control Room monitoring CCTV and sometimes on the floor patrolling. The Controller will be in control of the shopping Centre staff distribution, control incidents and sign in and out contractors. Access control and answering the phones when required adhering to the to Two ring rule.

To Monitor the CCTV cameras, give access to the site car park where permission is given by the occupiers and Building Management. Collate daily reports for The Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work the hours and shifts in accordance with conditions of employment.
  • To monitor CCTV images of the Centre as instructed by Centre Management.
  • To carry out duties in accordance with instructions issued by Centre Management. Note: Some cleaning may be required.
  • To make sure all daily, weekly and monthly audits are completed and sent over to management once completed.
  • To comply fully with the Health & Safety Policy for the centre.
  • To ensure that the requirements of the Fire regulations are strictly complied with.
  • To assist with the implementation of the Centre’s Emergency Plan and Evacuation Strategy in the event of an emergency.
  • To ensure that the Rules & Regulations of the Centre are complied with at all times.
  • Ensure that all incidents are recorded in Incident Log.
  • Ensure that contractors arriving on site adhere fully to the centre procedures for contractor management.
  • Ensure that the centre is a safe and pleasant environment.
  • Assist with enquiries from tenants and members the public when requested.
  • To be aware of and abide by all rules, terms and conditions of the company.
  • To undertake other duties i.e. helping the cleaning team by litter picking i.e. the car park once the centre is closed and where possible and using the T7 cleaning machine at nights once trained.
  • In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold an CCTV SIA Public Space Surveillance Licence and where necessary a valid SIA Security Licence.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in the provision of security services in a busy Shopping centre environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate previous experience in working as a controller role with in a busy Shopping Centre.
  • In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold a valid SIA Security Licence and a Public Space Surveillance Licence.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent levels of customer service at all times and be able to communicate well at all levels.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and deal with demanding situations.
  • Honest and reliable work ethic.
  • Willingness to partake in on-site training for emergency procedures.
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to adopt a flexible approach to work patterns and work weekends/evenings as and when required.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training and career development.
  • Well presented at all times.
  • Accurate record keeping with good attention to detail.
  • Able to meet the requirements of BS7858 – Security vetting.

Required

  • Valid SIA Security/DS License.
  • Valid SIA CCTV license.

Desirable

  • Operational experience within a Shopping Centre.
  • Ability to use full range of Microsoft applications inc. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge of H&S legislation. IOSHH Qualification.
  • Fire Marshall training.
  • First Aid at Work
  • Disciplinary and Investigation training

Working Hours - 56 hours/week - 3 days, 3 nights, 3 off 

Salary - £12.02 + 50p per hour performance and attendance bonus
