Position Available: Science Technician

Location: Secondary School in Wakefield

Start Date: As soon as possible

Accelerate Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced Science Technician to join our team at a vibrant secondary school in Wakefield. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the educational development of young minds and support the teaching staff in delivering engaging science lessons.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for practical science lessons
  • Maintain laboratory facilities, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are upheld
  • Assist teaching staff during practical sessions, providing technical support and guidance to students
  • Manage inventory and stock control of science resources and chemicals
  • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of scientific apparatus
  • Support teachers in the development of practical experiments and demonstrations
  • Uphold health and safety protocols within the science department

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertaining to laboratory environments
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
