School Receptionist (term time only)

The School Receptionist is the very first contact that prospective parents and other visitors have with the school; it is therefore vital that the post-holder be: smartly dressed: unfailingly cheerful, polite and diplomatic; an excellent communicator with impeccable written and spoken English.

Reporting to: The Senior Leadership Team

Responsibilities:

  • To be the first point of call for new, prospective and established parents. Pass on information to Headmaster or Registrar. Keep record of initial enquiry
  • To open the front door using the electronic entry system, to greet visitors, to sign them in as necessary and to receive deliveries
  • To keep pupil database (Schoolbase) up to date
  • Answer the telephone, take messages and email staff
  • Deal with parent queries e.g. collecting early, clubs, missing uniform
  • To receive permission slips, club slips, cheques, etc from parents
  • Organise and distribute post
  • To keep the school office tidy
  • Administer First Aid
  • Undertake duties and cover as necessary

General Duties:

  • To assist in the implementation of any decisions made my the management team
  • To have regard to and to assist in the implementation of the Health and Safety Policy within the school
  • To assist in ensuring that the health, welfare and safety of all the children in the school are met
  • To liaise with the management, informing them of any important matters concerning the school
  • To be aware of any school policies which relate to non-teaching staff
  • To read the contents of the staff handbook and abide by any guidelines there in

Skills and Qualifications:

  • An excellent standard of written and spoken English
  • Well organised and tidy
  • Computer literate i.e. word and excel
  • Adaptable and unflappable
  • Sense of humour
  • First Aid at Work or similar would be an advantage
