Sales Order Processing Manager

£42-£50k per annum DOE, Plus company bonus, plus 33 days holiday, 37.5hrs per week, Enhanced company pension.

The role of Sales Order Processing Manager is pivotal in harmonizing our approach towards managing customer needs, inventory, production scheduling, and overall planning within our supply chain framework. This position demands active collaboration with our internal teams-Sales, Purchasing, Production, Warehouse, and Logistics-to eliminate obstacles and ensure we consistently meet our customer expectations and deliver products efficiently.

The role involves fostering robust relationships with both customers and suppliers (including those within our company network), challenging existing norms, and setting realistic expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, inspire, and develop the S&OP team, focusing on maximizing efficiency and potential.
  • Collaborate closely with sales and S&OP personnel to align on immediate and future customer needs, ensuring precise order data management within our ERP system.
  • Conduct regular ERP system reviews to verify data accuracy.
  • Proactively address potential challenges between customer demand and production capabilities, managing expectations and communication as necessary.
  • Assist the Logistics team in maintaining an efficient, cost-effective supply chain.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customer escalations, resolving issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Manage customer engagement for our Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, guaranteeing outstanding service levels.
  • Handle adjustments in order volumes, informing senior management of significant changes, especially unexpected reductions.
  • Assist the Production Planning function in material coordination to meet production schedules and customer demands.
  • Support manpower planning with the Production department to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Strategically develop team members, aligning their growth with the company's long-term vision.
  • Spearhead initiatives for operational excellence, identifying opportunities for the team to deliver added value.
  • Update and manage demand forecasting within the MRP system to aid the procurement process.
  • Identify and address any barriers to meeting customer demands, suggesting solutions to enhance delivery performance.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships, ensuring clear instructions and timelines are followed.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure prompt and complete dispatch and delivery of products.
  • Facilitate customer reviews, providing key performance indicators for evaluation.
  • Participate in customer meetings to identify and address supply chain improvements.
  • Enhance inventory management practices to reduce stock levels and improve control.
  • Assist with the annual inventory count.
  • Implement Lean methodologies to streamline processes.
  • Oversee the SIOP process, creating realistic short- and medium-term plans in collaboration with the production team.
  • Monitor performance metrics, reporting to senior management as required.
  • Engage in and support continuous improvement activities beyond direct responsibilities.
  • Address ERP system issues, ensuring database integrity.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience in production planning within a dynamic manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred), with a deep understanding of manufacturing strategies and scheduling.
  • Experience in managing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong business and financial understanding.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical thinker with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in managing organizational change.
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive for results.
