Through continued growth our client is looking for an experienced Sales Ledger Officer to join their small team.

Main aspects of the role are -

To ensure that sales income is accurately and efficiently invoiced, accounted for, collected, reported and to provide collaborative Finance support to the Sales Department.

  • Generate sales invoices and transactions in the accounting system that are imported from the traffic system for a range of clients, accurately, on the correct template and to timetable.
  • Reconcile sales invoicing across systems and to the control accounts.
  • Effectively and with sensitivity, collect debts, working closely with Sales.
  • Check and prepare monthly and ad hoc debtor statements.
  • Resolve queries from clients and collect debt by phone and email.
  • Operate the credit collection process and calculate the bad debt provision to policy.
  • Post receipts from bank accounts daily into the debtor’s ledger and update the debtor’s ledger and credit control reports for Sales.
  • Import and reconcile Stripe receipts into Income and reconcile bank accounts.
  • Reconcile and post transactions daily into bank accounts, accurately and promptly.
  • Reconcile daily cashbook and control accounts.
  • Calculate and prepare the monthly sales commission calculations for review and approval by the Commercial Director and Finance.
  • Review and approve finance approvals in the sale system
  • Support other Finance area (such as purchase ledger) as required and for absence cover. This includes transaction posting, reconciliation, analysis and reporting.

Essential Skills

  • AAT or other accountancy qualification (accountancy trainee), or qualified by experience.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience of working in a Sales Ledger position or a position that includes sales ledger.
  • Sound understanding of double entry, accounts structure and journals
  • Strong accounting reconciliation skills.
  • Must be organised and able to work under tight deadlines (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • A good communicator able to write good and clear copy.
  • Good Excel and IT skills (a quick learner & user of three software packages).
