Job Title: Relief Driver / Driver Assistant - Central Hertfordshire
Location: Central Hertfordshire - Hatfield, Hertford and Welwyn Garden City
Salary Range: £23,114 with the opportunity to progress to £23,500 (pro rata for part-time) (£11.98 per hour)
Hours: Up to 37 hours per week
Contract: Variable

Do you want to help older people in your local community? In this role you will be responsible for transporting members of the public and school children between their homes and various locations in the county, safely and politely.

Purpose of the role:

The objective of the post holder is to cover the regular driver when absent from duties, countywide.

You will be responsible for transporting elderly services users and students to and from their homes to day services/schools in a safe and caring manner.

We are looking for people with a caring and professional approach.

Challenges and opportunities:

You will need to be able to assist passengers on and off the vehicle including wheelchair users and be able to work unsupervised with a 'can do’ attitude.

To follow pre-prepared routes, ensuring timings are kept to schedule, and passengers are transported safely and efficiently.

You must also be flexible in your approach to work as some requirements may be for a split shift of 2.5 hours in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon.

Technical skills and qualifications required for the role:

You must be a confident and safe driver with experience in driving both manual and automatic vehicles. You must be licenced to drive minibus-type vehicles with a D1 category licence. A driving assessment will be required, if offered the position.
