Eden Brown Synergy is recruiting for a Registered Manager (Ofsted) in Northampton.

The Registered Manager would be an experienced leader, accountable to the RI, to take responsibility for the development, the day-to-day operations, services and compliance of the children's residential home and a have a strong understanding of the needs of EBD children including managing challenging behaviour

The Registered Manager would meet the following requirements:

Qualifications required:

  • Diploma Level 3 in Children & Young People Workforce, Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care Services (Children and Young People's Residential Management)
  • Or Preferably a Diploma in Social Work, Training for LD services.
  • Supervision Training
  • Safeguarding Training
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development

The Registered Manager would have the following Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of management systems, of Quality standards, SCCIF, Children Act, Children's rights, Children's homes Regulations and other relevant legislation
  • Range of social care services provided to children and young people
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
  • Knowledge of Human Resources practices
  • Ability to develop and encourage professional growth in others
  • Knowledge of Care Planning and reviewing processes
  • Knowledge of Policies including Assessing outcomes, Children's Rights, Equality and Diversity
  • Knowledge of risk and risk management
  • Ofsted benchmarking and inspection requirements
  • Ability to manage teams effectively
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • A good level of IT proficiency including the use of Microsoft packages including Word and Outlook
  • Understanding the needs of EBD children including managing challenging behaviour
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to motivate and enthuse staff
  • Emotional resilience and maturity
  • Ability to be imaginative but practical about childcare
  • Ability to sustain and work through placement issues thus reducing unnecessary moves for young people
  • To be 'fit' to manage the Home in accordance with current Children's Homes Regulations and National Minimum Standards for Children's Homes
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to produce reports to a high standard
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to provide accurate staff supervision
  • Knowledge of management of budgets and staff rotas

Experience required:

  • Ideally previous expierence as a Registered Manager for a Residential Childrens' Home
  • Significant experience of working in a residential setting with young people with challenging behaviour or in setting working with challenging young people
  • Experience in supervising/managing staff
  • Experience of managing resources
  • Experience of Ofsted inspections.
  • Experience of professional's meetings and working contributively with the professional network.
  • Understanding of attachment and trauma in relation to young people.
  • Ability to relate to and communicate with young people forming and maintaining appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with young people
  • Awareness of safeguarding issues and ability to safeguard the welfare of young people
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
  • Ability to work in partnership and liaise with other professionals
  • Basic household skills
  • Ability to recognise and acknowledge training needs and respond appropriately
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
