Purchase Ledger Clerk

Purchase Ledger Clerk required for a hugely successful international business who are growing rapidly within their specialism as well as diversifying into new markets. Reporting to the Assistant Financial Accountant, this key role will take full ownership of the Purchase Ledger across the various European operations. The interesting and varied Purchase Ledger role will primarily focus on the effective management of the ledger and to manage relationships with both external and internal stakeholders in a fast paced, dynamic environment. As the business grows, the role will too so this is a great development opportunity.

Detailed duties include

  • Date stamping invoices received into the department
  • Responsibility for the co-ordination of coding and processing purchase invoices for our European operations and the UK Head Office
  • Inputting supplier invoices into accounting software
  • Reconciling key supplier statements to the purchase ledger
  • Fully reconciling the purchase ledger to the general ledger
  • Checking costings and price lists to supplier invoices
  • Preparing weekly payment runs for all of our European operations and the UK Head Office
  • Filing supplier invoices
  • Investigate areas that need improving and implement new processes where appropriate
  • Adhoc assistance to the team with sales ledger, cashbook, bank recs and project work

In order to apply, candidates must be able to demonstrate the following;

  • At least 5 years relevant experience managing and running the purchase ledger function in a busy accounts department
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Good working knowledge of bookkeeping and double-entry accounting
  • Studying toward a recognised accounting qualification e.g. AAT, ACCA or CIMA preferable
  • Enthusiastic and energetic
  • Proactive and able to set own objectives
  • Possesses a 'can do' attitude
  • Personable and able to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders
  • Willing to 'roll sleeves up' and get involved in all aspects of Accounts
  • Flexible and adaptable to change in a fast-moving industry
