PRU - Primary Teacher

Academics Ltd would like to welcome a Teacher to a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in South Birmingham, as soon as possible. This is a full time, long term position!

The PRU caters for children who show challenging behaviour with a view to return to mainstream education setting soon. Children have Special Education Needs including ADHD, SEMH, EBD, Dyslexia and others. Class sizes are small and TA's are available for classroom support. Most students are Key Stage 2 so a Teacher experienced in KS1/KS2 would be beneficial.

The ideal Teacher will have strong classroom behaviour management whilst maintaining and exceeding children's attainment levels. The Teacher will also have good subject knowledge and utilise resources provided effectively, ensuring children make progress in returning to a mainstream setting.

The successful Teacher will:

  • Hold QTS status and eligibility to work in the UK
  • Extensive KS1/2 curriculum knowledge
  • Manage behaviour accordingly
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexible around the school working routine
  • Utilise resources effectively
