Project Officer
  • Job Type: Temporary 8-month contract
  • Organisation: Tameside Council
  • Pay Rate: £20 - £25 per hour PAYE (Negotiable)

Tameside Council are looking for public sector experienced Project Managers to join their Transformation Team, focusing on children’s services. This role is instrumental in ensuring the development and implementation of complex, high-value projects and initiatives. You will work under the direction of Project and Programme Leads enabling key projects to be delivered on time.

Day to day of the role:
  • Provide high-profile programme support to aid the Council's Children's Services and Social Care teams. A background in these areas is not required.
  • Create and maintain project management documentation, such as project initiation documents, summaries, risk logs, change logs, and issue logs.
  • Coordinate and develop project plans to track progress in conjunction with Project Leads and the Programme Manager.
  • Support measures for project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques, and report into performance management governance.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders (internal and external) to identify and define project requirements, ensure alignment of priorities, consistency of approach, and project development.
  • Support communication and planning activities across stakeholder groups to ensure effective and impactful delivery of programmes, ensuring clear and effective communications on project objectives and progress.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in programme management support within a public sector organisation.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
