Salary: £30,000 to £33,000pa + 5% flexible benefits

Location: Southampton - with occasional travel to other NHS SBS sites

Contract: Full time/Permanent

Role Overview

The Programmes & Technology Business area has been created to manage the technical solutions available that support the whole of the Employment Service Business and develop all internal IT solutions.

The Project Manager will lead with specified IT solutions and must ensure the change work stream for each project level is managed in an effective and efficient manner to achieve the successful delivery of the stated business objectives for each project, at all times working within the principles of Prince 2 methodology.

You will work closely with clients and operational teams to ensure an integrated approach for any changes to systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work with multiple partner organisations, current and new and internally to ensure effective delivery of change, building relationships that support the delivery of internal or external solutions/systems/processes supporting the whole Employment Service business

  • Support and deliver system Implementations to internal and external clients.

  • To attend client Project Team and Board meetings as Project Manager, chairing where necessary

  • Support with bid submissions if required

  • Create and maintain Project Document library including Plans and Project Initiation Documentation.

  • Monitor Project Progress within both NHS SBS and client organisation and escalate any impact on tolerance to key stakeholders.

  • Successful transition of new customers and services from contract signature through to project close with full handover to operational teams.

  • Work with the Business Development teams to ensure the commercials reflect the service being designed and implemented.

  • Work with and support new and existing clients to ensure effective relationships are maintained through to BAU.

  • Complete proof of concepts and evaluations supporting business case validation.

  • Identify, assess and manage risks to the success of the project, raising awareness of risks in a timely manner to ensure cost-effective and prompt resolution of issues.

  • To monitor costs, timescales, resources used and the performance of team members and suppliers taking action where these deviate from agreed levels and tolerances and ensuring that client and ES managers are provided with status reports as agreed.

  • Ensure that projects are formally closed and capture lessons learnt from all projects and make recommendations for improvements where required.

Essential Skills

  • Prince 2/ITIL preferred, or similar project management qualification

  • 2 Years Project management experience

  • Change management experience (Non technical)

  • A proven track record of delivering projects/systems, managing and coordinating delivery from multiple suppliers

  • Excellent presentation skills

Desirable Skills

  • Execution of Lean and/or Six-sigma operational improvement projects

  • Knowledge of the structure and working of the NHS

  • Understanding of Data protection act (DPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

  • Good understanding of all NHS systems engineering processes and procedures
