Product Category Head (Procurement) - Location Hertford

MAIN PURPOSE

Has responsibility for the day to day buying requirements within the Buying Team

RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB

• Managing and motivating the team to deliver the day-to-day activities of the Procurement department.
• Approving & devising strategies for daily negotiations with colleagues in China office
• Maintaining & Improving the Established Relationship with our China Office.
• Assisting with building, maintaining & implementing record of data, new processes and systems
• Ensuring all company processes and procedures are adhered to including an effective email filing system
• Support the Buying Manager with the Review of suppliers’ reliability & quality performance in alliance with colleagues in China office
• Ensuring Purchase Orders are sent out in a timely and accurate manner.
• Overseeing the checking of samples and swatches to ensure we ship products to meet our quality standards and customer expectations.
• Closely monitoring team communications with all other departments and supporting as required
• Deputising for the Buying Manager or Assistant Manager; stand-in in their absence
• To attend China trade fair as required

PERSONSPECIFICATION

• Proven successful track record within a buying-procurement/product environment
• Highly organised, methodical with excellent attention to detail
• Thrives in a fast-moving environment and enjoys new challenges
• Good negotiation, influencing and analytical skills
• High level mathematics/numeracy skills (including GCSE maths A or B or equivalent)
• Possess excellent PC skills - proficiency in Excel and Outlook are essential
• CIPS qualified or part qualified desirable
