Principal Java Engineer

Are you a seasoned Principal Java Engineer ready to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic environment? Our client, a leading player in the insurance industry, is seeking a talented individual to join their innovative team. This role offers fully remote working flexibility with very occasional office visits when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the Java Centre of Excellence, driving the delivery of innovative integration solutions.
  • Design new functionality, propose enhancements, and address technical debt.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine ideas and meet project deadlines.
  • Provide technical mentoring and support to colleagues, fostering a high-performing environment.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in web development with a strong focus on Java (preferably version 11+).
  • Proficiency in Spring Boot Framework (version 2.3+) for creating web APIs.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering cloud-hosted solutions using Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with Scala Framework is advantageous.
  • Expertise in software management tools such as GIT, Git Hub, or Subversion.
  • Solid understanding of web design, development, architecture, and standards.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to challenge design assumptions and drive solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Prior experience in the insurance industry would be highly beneficial.
