An exciting opportunity has risen within the Manufacturing and Supply Chain function for a Principal Industrial Engineer. This role will be a core member of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) representing Industrial Engineering and will be accountable for the successful introduction of new products to manufacturing to Quality, Cost and delivery.
This role will also play a key part as the technical interface between the Development IPT and the Supply Chain. Providing technical expertise to Project Engineering Manager to ensure the manufacturing risks associated with design concepts are well understood and mitigated appropriately. This role will also be accountable for the successful delivery of manufacturing work packages with budget and scheduled targets.
Key Responsibility Areas
*Design for Excellence: Assess design proposals WRT manufacturing capability (internal and external) to ensure that product quality and cost targets can be achieved and that any associated risk is mitigated by the IPT.
*Design for Test: assess design test strategy proposals with Engineering WRT to manufacturing cycle time, test effectiveness, diagnostics, capacity and Quality at Source.
*Manages Product Life Cycle and milestones on behalf of Manufacturing and Supply Chain including the Production Readiness Review (PRR).
*Assesses Vendor Manufacturing Capability and collaborates with the Procurement Lead to provide technical expertise for the manufacturing capability aspects of Supplier PRRs.
*Defines and manages Manufacturing and Supply Chain work packages during the NPI phase.
*Drive continuous improvement in terms of Quality Cost Delivery (QCD) during Low Rate Initial production (LRIP) as defined in the Manufacturing Plan.
*Facilitates problem solving activities at all levels in the business.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
*Ability to lead and facilitate both functional and multi-functional teams.
*Typically qualified to Degree level in.
*Deep conceptual understanding of Industrial Engineering tools and processes.
*Ability to influence and drive change within the business.
