Are you an experienced Data Engineer looking for the next step in your career?

We are working in partnership with one of Scotland's largest Law Firms, with offices across the country.

The Principal Data Engineer will be pivotal in shaping and optimising the Firms data infrastructure to bolster their business operations and support the provision of legal services.

Drawing on your extensive expertise in data management, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to devise and execute resilient data solutions.

These solutions will not only streamline processes but also fortify compliance measures and elevate decision-making capabilities.

Your contributions will also play a crucial role in driving efficiency and effectiveness across the organisation, ultimately enhancing the ability to deliver exceptional legal services to clients.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and implement data strategies remotely to align with business goals and regulations

  • Identify remote opportunities for optimising legal data processes

  • Design and maintain data models remotely for advanced analytics

  • Ensure data integrity and security from a distance

  • Enforce data governance policies remotely and integrate regulations into architecture

  • Develop and manage data integration processes and workflows remotely

  • Implement algorithms for enhanced legal workflows from afar

  • Liaise remotely with legal and IT teams to understand data requirements

  • Communicate data solutions' potential to non-technical stakeholders

  • Monitor and optimise data architecture remotely for performance and scalability

  • Recommend remote tools and technologies for enhanced capabilities

  • Conduct remote research on cutting-edge solutions for legal data challenges

  • Stay updated on emerging data management technologies from a distance

What you’ll need

  • Qualification in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field

  • Solid experience as a Data Engineer, ideally from a Professional Services/Legal background

  • Strong knowledge and experience in database management systems, ETL processes and data modelling

  • Familiar with legal data types, workflows and terminology

  • Comfortable working as part of a team but also using your own initiative

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a positive 'can do’ attitude

  • Accuracy and a keen eye for detail

  • Solid organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure in a busy and demanding environment

  • You will be proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook
