SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Hourly Rate: £14.18 - £15.84 (Dependant on experience)
  • Location: Kirkham
  • Job Type: Part-time (Starting May 2025)
  • Working Hours: 8:40 AM - 12:10 PM, Monday - Friday

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an SEN unit within a mainstream school. This role is ideal for someone who has experience working with KS2 children and children with complex needs.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support EYFS children and those with complex needs within a mainstream school setting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs and behavioural plans.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to promote an inclusive environment.
  • Provide one-on-one support and group support within the classroom.
  • Help with the preparation of materials and equipment for lessons and activities.
  • Monitor and support the progress of children, reporting back to teachers and parents as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must be Level 2 qualified in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience working with KS2 children and children with complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Patience, empathy, and a dedicated approach to supporting children’s learning and development.
