Plumber / Mechanical Fitter

Purpose of Role

We currently require a Plumber/Mechanical Fitter at HMP Marsh to maintain prison buildings, fabric, associated plant and equipment including security items, in a safe manner.

The Plumber will act as a valuable member of the prison maintenance team and will be required to deliver a high level of service to ensure the upkeep of maintenance and repair of all staff and prisoner facilities in the estate.

Principal Accountabilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out all PPM tasks in accordance with the annual PPM Planner, and notify any repairs as necessary

  • To be available to respond & repair any reactive calls rose through the onsite Helpdesk

  • Ensure all record keeping functions are completed on a daily basis

  • Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of workmanship and safety

  • Ensure that any difficulties encountered on engineering activities are reported to the Engineering Supervisor /Manager as per escalation procedure

  • On reasonable request be available to work overtime to accommodate the sites requirements.

The scope of equipment to be worked on will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Air Handling Units

  • Boilers

  • Pumps

  • Water Heaters

  • Pressurisation units

  • Building management system

  • Control system

  • General Plumbing and Building Maintenance

Additional Role Information

Essentials Skills/Experience

  • Must hold a minimum of  Vocational Qualification at Level 2 as an plumber or related area

  • Must be able to display competency in the use and operation of all associated power tools, machinery and equipment

  • Previous experience working in a similar working environment or Facilities Management role would be advantageous
