Plant Operative

Hourly Rate - £13.00 per hour (plus benefits)
Hours - 45 hours per week, 7.30am to 4.30pm
Location Postcode - LN5 0QF

As a Plant Operative, you will be required to operate mobile plant to aid in the acceptance and placement of waste inputs from customers. The operator will be required to operate the tractor and road sweeper during the working day to aid in the waste operations at Leadenham Landfill. This must be achieved in a timely fashion whilst maintaining the highest levels of safety. They must maximise void utilisation; maintain all site equipment in line with FCC Procedures and Best Practice whilst achieving a consistently high level of customer service.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week, however, we will consider requests for job shares to suit your lifestyle (working full days).

What will you be doing?

- To operate site plant in order to deal effectively with any road borne waste
- To ensure that site roads are kept clear of mud and dust & stop any contamination of the highway
- To ensure the leachate is recirculated on site via the tractor & Bowser
- To ensure that waste is covered at the end of the shift in order to comply with the requirements of the Environment Agency and the site’s permit
- Operation of Site in Compliance with all requirements, operating to all legislative requirements e.g. PPC and Health and Safety Law
- To comply with all company policies and procedures in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the machinery
- Ensure that all actions maintain a safe and healthy environment for self, colleagues and customers
- Help to maintain high level of housekeeping on site including canteen/mess and locker rooms

What are we looking for?

- A qualification in the operation of heavy plant such as:
Tracked Loading Shovel
Compactor
Tractor
- To have worked on a waste acceptance site
- An understanding of landfill operations.
